About Benita

With almost 40 years of experience in the credit union industry, Benita Harp has held senior leadership roles including President/CEO, Chief Human Resources & Operating Officer, and Chief Strategy Officer. Since 2019, she has served as Executive Director of HCUA, where she partners with credit union leadership teams nationwide to strengthen strategy, culture, and collaboration.

Often referred to as “The Great Gardener,” Benita is known for her ability to listen deeply and help organizations thrive where they are planted. In addition to her HCUA role, she serves as Lead ConsTultant with Wide Open Ventures, working with credit unions through AI BASECAMP engagements to translate emerging AI capabilities into practical, people‑centered strategies.

About Denelle

Denelle Miller has been with FiCare Federal Credit Union since 2008 and has served as President and Chief Executive Officer for more than a decade. During her tenure, she has led two successful acquisitions, a strategic rebrand and name change, and multiple core conversions—strengthening FiCare’s operational capabilities and its ability to serve healthcare employees and their families.

In addition to her executive role, Denelle is highly engaged in industry and community leadership. She serves on the Board of Directors for The League of Credit Unions and Affiliates, is Chair of the Healthcare Credit Union Association, serves on the Board of Directors for the North Tampa Chamber, and serves on the board of Learning Gate Community School, supporting sustainability‑focused education initiatives.

Denelle holds an MBA from Saint Leo University and the Certified Credit Union Executive (CCUE) designation. She is also a proud wife and mother of two children, Quinn and Wade, and remains deeply committed to leadership, service, and community impact.

About David

David Murphy serves as President of Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union, a $90 million credit union located in Marshfield, Wisconsin. He began his career in the credit union industry in 2002 as a part‑time Member Service Representative and has served as President for nearly five years.

David joined the HCUA Board in 2025 and has been an active member of the association since 2022. His industry involvement includes service on the Wisconsin Government Affairs Committee, as Board Chair of CUs Unite, LLC, and as a member of the ACU Small Credit Union Committee. A former Young Professional Liaison and League Board Advisor, David is a passionate advocate for small credit unions and their continued relevance within the financial services landscape.

Kramer Chan serves as President and CEO of Kaiperm Credit Union, a $100 million credit union headquartered in Walnut Creek, California. Since assuming leadership in 2023, Kramer has focused on empowering healthcare professionals through accessible, member‑focused financial solutions.

With experience spanning lending, operations, and executive leadership, Kramer brings a balanced and strategic perspective to governance and organizational growth within the credit union system.

About Cindy

Cindy Smith serves as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Alive Credit Union in Jacksonville, Florida. With more than 30 years in the financial services industry, Cindy leads lending, collections, operations, human resources, and marketing with a strong people‑first approach.

She is passionate about developing talent, building meaningful relationships, and ensuring members and communities have access to strong, member‑focused financial services.

About Mike

Mike Gorman serves as President and CEO of Baptist Health Federal Credit Union in Little Rock, Arkansas, a role he has held for nearly seven years. Prior to this, he spent 27 years as Senior Vice President of Lending at Arkansas Superior Federal Credit Union.

A graduate of Southwest CUNA Management School, Mike holds the Certified Credit Union Executive (CCUE) designation and a bachelor’s degree in accounting. His service includes leadership roles with the HCUA Board of Directors, the TruStage Select Credit Union Council, and the Small Credit Union Committee with the Cornerstone Credit Union League. Mike brings deep lending expertise and a collaborative leadership style focused on advancing the credit union mission.

Together, HCUA’s leadership brings experience, passion, and purpose to advancing healthcare credit unions and the members they serve.
